ATLANTA, Dec. 19, 2013 – The UPS Foundation announced today it will donate more than $2.4 million to support the volunteer efforts of nine nonprofit organizations, with an emphasis on those organizations that specialize in disaster preparedness and response. This year’s volunteerism grants include a $1.2 million award to the Points of Light Foundation, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer services.

NEW YORK, Dec. 17, 2013 – Soldiers returning from active duty in Afghanistan and Iraq can face a range of mental health issues that may affect their quality of life and their families, including severe depression, post-traumatic stress (PTSD) and substance abuse. They also face a rising suicide rate. However, fewer than half of the 2 million military personnel who served in those countries seek treatment for their serious mental illness.
